WASHINGTON: US intelligence agencies informed the Congress that the upcoming general elections will be a turning point for Pakistan and must be held by May 2013, reported The News International.

Director US National Intelligence James R Clapper sent a report to the Congress and noted that “Islamabad is intently focused on Afghanistan” in anticipation of the withdrawal of American and NATO forces.

According to the report, the Pakistani government attempted to improve relations with Kabul since late last year.

“Economically, trouble looms Pakistan, with its small tax base, poor system of tax collection, and reliance on foreign aid, faces no real prospects for sustainable economic growth,” the report warns.

“The government has been unwilling to address economic problems that continue to constrain economic growth. The government has made no real effort to persuade its disparate coalition members to accept much-needed policy and tax reforms, because members are focused on retaining their seats in upcoming elections.”

India-Pakistan relations were discussed with information from the US intelligence agencies regarding the countries making diplomatic gestures to improve relations despite ingrained mistrust. Pakistan and India held diplomatic and trade related meetings in the past year and would probably continue to achieve progress in their strained relationship.

Discussion on the more controversial issues of territorial disputes and terrorism, however, were deferred.

It is dire need of the time the better bilateral relations with Afghanistan, because its internal circumstances directly effected pakistan.,both the countries have long border link and both the countries sharing insurgency matters.

No doubt, rightly commenting on the economic condition,Pakistqan is facing very hard ecnomic condition, people delibrately aviod to pay tax not only middle class, elite class too that is reason government is poor but people are rich especially political leader see president and provincial ministers.Head of the state and the government having begging bowle in hand and knocking the door of IMF.

In fact, there is consensus on issue including caretaker set up or any other matter like Oil PipeLine project with Iran so ther are still failed in adopting a comprehensive agreed policy but want power or sharing in the power at any cost..general election a head so total attention focused on it.

Non stop terrorism and target killing
