The young Pakistanis, who are all university graduates, were issued visas by the Pakistani government and were promised a job in the Bahrain Army with the starting salary of Rs100,000. The army, however, took the young men hostage and tortured them, according to one of the deportees.
The men were not given food and access to toilets for five days and were not allowed to phone their family and friends back home.
Around 100 more Pakistanis are expected to be deported tomorrow.
The young men, protesting against the Bahrain government, urged the United Nations to take notice of the incident.
Last month, around 700 Pakistani workers were stranded in Saudi Arabia after their passports were taken and they were not allowed to work. A Turkish company had hired these Pakistani workers through different travel and recruiting agencies during 2011 after payment of a hefty sum against visa issuance.

Its not happen good I m working in bahrain national guard. I did job in bahrain I didnt do any mistake I did great job and also work n help police in my career bahrain have no faith they kick also us without any reason include me we got orders that we r finish. And one 1st april they will send us back to pakistan. The truth they need workers to hold n controll situation they didnt need soliders they need gangsters who do everything on there orders and if someone ask anything even if u r sick they will torture u to not go to doctor coz they save there madicine walah bahrain is one country who is a biggest ......

How can Pakistan government issue Bahrain Visa to Pakistanis? Only Bahrain government can issue Visas Pakistanis or citizens of other countries. Pakistanis can only issue Passports.

An educated person would never ever accepts that.
many are asking how they got job and visa and all the thing is every year some officers from Bahrain goes to Pakistan to take some people for jobs in police and army and national guard and one thing more none of them were university graduates they were all just metric pass.
its all false news its true that they were given jobs and the mentioned salary but when they came here they putted up a strike saying to increase their salary or they will not work and then government decide to say that u don't wanna work ur choice u can go and all who came were deported from BDF(Bahrain Defence Force) and BNG(Bahrain National Guard)
@rumormonger: This is not true, no foreigners were attacked by the protestors throught out the life of the protest. All protests are peacefull and there were times that protestors have cured and protected the foriegn workers from the heavy smoke of tear gas used by the police forces.
There are so many Bahrian Royal Guards from Pakistan that in recent protests in Bahrain many protesters were chanting in Urdu and calling Soldiers as "Paagal" or mad in Urdu and most of the soldiers of Royal Guards are from Pakistan. Bahraini police has been hiring Pakistanis for a long time. Recently, after a crackdown on Shia protestors, some Pakistani homes were ransacked by the Bahraini demonstrators in retaliation of Pakistani personel being part of the crackdown.
May i ask what did Pak & its people benefited from so called close-relationship with Arab regimes. In the name of Islam they exported Al-Qaeda ideology to Pak and kept their country save. Do you think the type of Madrasa that is funded by them in Pak is allowed in their country.

Bahrain is going down their economy is affected and recently Bahrain airline went bust and no foreigner interested in working in Bahrain and taking risk on his/her life when there are better opportunities else where so the only way for Bahrain gov to recruit is to give fake promises and they need a gov like Pakistan so they can cheat. It's totally cooked up story. I see the whole situation. The Bahrain goverment is totally loyal for these Pakistani. They give the next 3 month salary at least 500000 and double pension. They give the complete security. They are protesting for only 4 boys that are also working in the same department of military. Bcz these 4 boys are too much clever. These 4 boy are Shai.

What I can't understand why would the government of Bahrain torture those mercenories whom supposed to work for the government? Is this a puzzle or a misreported case.
Bahrain has a long history of Pakistanis serving in its armed forces, national guards, police and royal guards. There are Pakistanis who protect the royal family and these men are considered very loyal by the royals as they have no interest in protecting the lives of demonstrators if an even required them to fire upon crowds. There are second generation Pakistani royal guards who are serving along with their fathers or after their retirement. Most of them belong to the rural Punjab area and Bahraini's like to hire very tall people. The royal guards have to be 6'2" or taller and you will find many Pakistani "Raajpoots" and "Jaats" within their ranks.
This is interesting in the broader context of the improving Pakistan-Iran relationship and the tense Pakistan-Saudi relationship.
I was actually wondering about the impact of the Iran-Pakistan relationship on the support Pakistan provided to the Bahraini government, supposedly at the behest of the Saudis, and this particular incident might answer that question.
Yet another step towards a realignment of the Pakistan-Gulf Arab relationship perhaps?

I think we should concentrate on improving ourselves so that we do not need to go to other countries. Pakistan needs a radical change. We should get rid of the old politicians and the so called Mullahs who have made it a family business to run Pakistan. We will need put all this behind us. It will be a difficult period temporarily, but InshaAllah we will come out as a proud, independent prosperous nation.
What really happened? Will we ever find out? This is pretty pathetic.
@Concerned: I agree since my relatives are serving in Bahrain Police so there are many Pakistanis working in police and in Bahrain Army. Bahrain have a huge population of Bahraini Balochs as well and also Many people from Punjab and KPK represent in Army and Police. I had a discussion with my Relative and he told me that after the Sunni-Shia conflict Bahrain government is very very cautious and Some Pakistani Shias are found to directly involved in Espionage and religious discussions and even promoting the Rebellion within the government and they are bringing religion into everything and that is one of the reasons of Disciplinary action is taken against them.

Well I can see lots of emotional and pointless discussion on the forum. The fact is there are thousands of Pakistanis working in Bahrain Army and Policy (Total number of Pakistani working in Bahrain are more than hundred thousand making almost 10% of the entire population of small Island of Bahrain.). Few weeks back two Pakistanis were fired based on disciplinary action. The entire lot sent back to Pakistan threatened an agitation and protest to save the two guys, which is against the norms of every Army in the world. These guys were also shipped back along with the two. They should be grateful for not being Court Marshalled and that is primarily due to Pakistani Embassy and Government. All Pakistanis here either in Police and Army get accommodation, good salary and medical and other standard perks, which I am for sure are many times more than the earnings of their counterparts in Pakistani Army.
What Pakistanis as a nation should do is to start a movement to stop Pakistani recruitment in Bahraini police & army.
Pakistanis do not need any visa. Rightly said it is issued by Pakistan, like it was issued to 26/11 attackers.
Why do we have to become mercenaries to fight conflicts for other nations? We did it for Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, and now it appears Bahrain.

dubious report...few points to consider:
Pakistan govt. can't issue visas for Bahrain as every Arab country issues employment visas itself let alone visas for jobs in military Young graduates means they are all educated people. Did someone try to check the authenticity of the job and salary offered? How much they paid to the company who arranged visas for them? as it looks like a visit visa with a promise of a fake job. Why did Bahrain detain 450 men for 19 months without any charges and why didn't they expelled them on day one?But, if this is all true then Govt. of Pakistan should protest Bahrain and ask for compensation.
That's the amount of respect we Pakistanis get in the "Pure" Arabic countries. The Western countries are much more civilized and welcoming for us Pakistanis, but still we curse them and we sing praises for the Arabs =)
If there was a contract violation, then we should take them international tribunal.
Bahrain visas issued by Pakistani government?? Pakistani government or its embassies can issue only Pakistani visas to foreign citizens to enter Pakistan or extend their stay while in Pakistan.

We get fooled by this arab country... I think they planned to hire pakistanis in their army when bahrain's revolutionary wave of demonstrations, protests, and wars began last year, but after settlement they don't need these people that's why they deported them. Just like Pakistani people use against Russia in Afghanistan.

Unfortunately, till things back home wont get better, our workforce will always be arm twisted in the name of job opportunities in foreign countries. Sad fact is that despite repeated such incidents we are still willing to seek greener pastures due to bleak situation in homeland.
