KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) directed the AIG Legal on Wednesday to conduct an inquiry into allegations that two assistant sub-inspectors have been extorting money from the brother of detained persons.

Headed by Chief Justice Mushir Alam, the division bench was hearing a petition filed by Inayat Ali, who claimed that Customs officials and other law enforcment agencies had picked up his two brothers on January 8, this year.

Even though the detainees were released, ASI Rana Muhammad Hanif and ASI Aijaz had extorted money for their release, claimed the petitioner.

Earlier, the court ordered these two assistant sub-inspectors to appear in court and submit their replies, but they failed to appear.
