Special economic zones: Pakistan, Japan discuss cooperation

Agar emphasised on the promotion of small and medium enterprises.

KARACHI: Karachi Chambers of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) President Muhammad Haroon Agar stated on Monday that a Japan Special Economic Zone will prove to be a milestone in economic and commercial cooperation between Pakistan and Japan. Agar appreciated Sindh’s initiative through the Sindh Board of Investment to sign the memorandum of understanding with Japan in order to establish the Japan Special Economic Zone earmarked near Dhabeji. Exchanging views with the Japanese delegation of businessmen, led by Honorary Investment Counsellor for the Board of Investment, Japan Dr Hironao Takahashi, Agar emphasised the promotion of small and medium enterprises which are the driving force for economic growth.
