“We are investing more in junior tournaments because we want the sport to grow,” PTF secretary Mumtaz Yousuf told The Express Tribune. “We want to hold at least five to six tournaments on the national level for the juniors because we need more players. Asian under-14 number one Nofil Kaleem is a good example of how young talent can bring laurels to the country. Now the PTF wants more junior players to make their mark in the International Tennis Federation (ITF) junior’s events throughout the year.”
Meanwhile, according to Yousuf, four under-16 players will also be sent to Malaysia to participate in the under-14 Davis Cup pre-qualifiers on March 18, while under-16 Davis Cup pre-qualifying matches will also take place in Malaysia this month.
