LAHORE: Ex-Sindh Chief Minister Dr  Arbab Ghulam Rahim ended his five-year long exile by returning to Pakistan on Wednesday, Express News reported.

Dr Rahim did come good on his promise to return to the country, but opted to do so via Lahore, rather than directly landing in Sindh.

Dr Rahim left the country soon after he was attacked by some enraged political activists following his oath ceremony during the first Sindh Assembly session in April 2008.

Dr Rahim clarified that he has not returned on Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) cheif Nawaz Sharif’s invitation.

After landing on the Allama Iqbal International Airport Lahore, he held a meeting with the Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif.

He further said that allegations of Benazir Bhutto’s murder on him were completely baseless.

Some MPAs and ministers have been demanding the arrest of Dr Rahim on his arrival, alleging that he had not given security to Former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto whose caravan came under attack on October 2007.
