Railways: Project to repair 150 engines approved

Official of Pakistan Railways says, purchase of new locomotives is necessary for revival of railways.

ISLAMABAD: The government has approved a project titled “Special repair of 150 running locomotives” during 2012-13 under the Public Sector Development Programme.

An official of Pakistan Railways talking to APP here on Tuesday said the purchase of new locomotives was necessary for the revival of railways in order to make it a profit earning organisation.

He said that all non-productive expenses have been stopped and expenditures are being incurred in accordance with available resources.
