GUJRANWALA:

A gynae-ward and a PCR diagnostic laboratory was inaugurated at Civil Hospital on Tuesday.

Executive District Officer (Health) Azhar Masood Bhatti said that the ward and the laboratory had been completed at a cost of Rs7 million. He said the project would benefit 2.4 million people in the district.

He said the gynae-ward included an operation theatre with the latest equipment. Earlier, he said, due to lack of a gynea operation theatre, the patients had to be taken to one of the general wards. This increased the load on the staff. He said a latest hepatitis diagnostic machine had been installed at the PCR lab.

Principal Atiya Mubarak, MNA Ghulam Dastgeer, MPA Shazia Ishfaq Manto, Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Khwaja Amir Hasan and Anjuman-i-Behboode Marizan (patients’ welfare association) president Akhlaq Butt were also present.
