KARACHI:

All Pakistan Motor Dealers Association (APMDA) Chairman HM Shahzad has claimed that Finance Minister Saleem H Mandviwalla has accepted most of their demands.

He was talking to The Express Tribune after a meeting between car importers and the finance minister in Islamabad on Monday.

The demands included clearance of 400 imported cars that were stuck at seaports because of duty issues, removal of additional regulatory duty on vehicles of more than 1,800cc engine capacity and others.

Shahzad said Mandviwalla also agreed to review the government’s decision on reducing the age limit for used car imports from five to three years. The age limit was reduced in December 2012 following persistent demand from car assemblers.
