Yes, I know that this means that Hindus who have lived in Sindh for millennia should leave, that Christians from whom SP Singha hailed and who made the critical casting vote in the Punjab Assembly for Pakistan should leave, that the Ahmadis who gave Pakistan its first brilliant foreign minister as well as a Nobel laureate, that Shias who count the founder of the country, Mohammad Ali Jinnah, as one of their denomination, should leave — yes, all should leave.
Soon, of course, we would need to add to this list, women, since they always prove to be so deviant and might want to go out of the house, and some men, too, as they might have visited the shrines of those Sufi saints who are responsible for the conversion of millions to Islam.
This obviously is just the beginning of the list and very soon, more categories will be added as the above mentioned people are exterminated or simply chased away.
It does not matter if the chosen are a few thousand or even a few million — the vast majority of the country’s 180 million need to leave since they simply do not fit the bill and are minorities of some kind. Pakistan was founded to be the preserve of a small minority of men and so it should be.
And this is the crux of the problem. Pakistan was founded by people who were fearful of a majority they did not trust.
It did not matter if the majority was good or evil, or that a workable solution might have been devised — all that mattered was that they were a minority and hence, they needed to have their separate way.
In other words, the Muslim minority of India simply refused to live with the Hindu majority of India, no matter what the reasons or consequences. As this mindset led to the creation of Pakistan, it also led to the creation of a very suspicious view towards other minorities — the erstwhile minority of India then turned against any other minorities in its own country, and quite naturally, it thought of them as fifth columnists — just as it had been in India. Also, since at the root of the Muslim League’s strong demand for Pakistan was intolerance — it simply could not stand living with Hindus — it was but natural for a strong strain of intolerance to seep into the very veins of Pakistan.
The twin menaces of suspicion and intolerance towards minorities has remained a permanent feature of Pakistan since its inception. Beginning with September 1948, when the founder of the country only had a private Shia funeral, presumably because it was too much for the public to handle that the revered Quaid-e-Azam was not a Sunni, to the Muslim members of the Constituent Assembly ‘fearful’ of the 15 per cent of Hindus in Pakistan if joint electorates were permitted, to the rioting against Ahmadis in 1953 and later, to violent attacks against Christians, Hindus and Shias, especially since the 1980s, Pakistan has been uneasy with its minorities.
And here, I have not even begun writing about women — who are increasingly becoming a minority in demographic terms and are treated very poorly, to discrimination based on ethnic background, class differences, sexual orientation, and simply, due to bigotry.
Pakistan is beset with this intolerance against minorities and it seems that it has become its blood line. The majority of Pakistanis might not be keen on exterminating the minorities (though I am beginning to have doubts here), but this vocal and violent minority is increasingly having its way and no one seems to be doing anything about it except issuing condemnations. The government regrets the incidents after they happen, the intelligence agencies promise to work ‘next time’, the courts take suo motu notice but no one is ever brought to justice, and the civil society people (read the rich and middle class) satisfy themselves by holding vigils — everyone ticks their boxes and life goes on.
Life cannot, and should not go on, if conditions are deteriorating so rapidly in front of our eyes. Unless the ‘silent majority’ wakes up and takes charge, nothing will happen. Till then, it is best if all minorities simply pack up and leave for safer climes.

Bravo! Bangash
All I have to say is that, running from the difficulties is not the solution of our problems.
@Razi:
Grudingly I agree with you

@Liaqat Ali: "In modern times there is another country created on the same basis (founded by people who were fearful of a majority they did not trust) out of whole cloth.Israel"
Well, Israel wil accept any Je from aywhere that wants to move there. Pakistan will not allow even Pakistani Biharis that were loyal to Pakistan stuck in Bangladesh to move to Pakistan. Also I have not heard of one set of Jews calling another set as not Jews the way Pakistan did to Ahmadiyas nor killing another set of Jews like Shias. Israel has been an ongoing democracy unlike Pakistan though its security concerns cannot be described as being less than Pakistan. Israel hasnever started a war unlike Pakistan who started 4
I disagree with the analysis here. The fact is that a minority is making all the problems in Pakistan. A minority comprising of corrupt leaders ,whether civilians or ex-generals, so called religious leaders are the root cause of all the problems. The silent majority is peace loving and hate this trouble making minority but they are helpless. They do not find any sincere leader they can follow or can trust. Majority is finding it hard to earn enough for living. They are just waiting that one day they will have someone who can lead them out of this trouble. I have so many friends but never paid attention to his religion or sect. When I meet some Hindu Pakistani I feel thankful to him that he preferred to live in Pakistan instead of India. Same is the case with majority of Pakistanis. They dont hate followers of other sects or religions. It is not true that in Quetta or Karachi some Sunni, representing the majority are making trouble. There is some other game plan and our corrupt leaders are aware of everything. It can be controlled if they are sincere with Pakistan and if they dont kill people for their politics. The analyst have blamed the majority of Pakistanis for this trouble which is not correct, may be he dont ahve the courage the speak the truth and just blaming the helpless majority.
There is no recourse but tolerance.
@Ameet: Hats off to you. Pakistan needs citizens like you who can collectively thwart the evil designs of small minority in Pakistan who are the actual trouble makers. The silent majority thinks like you. If few people like come forward and lead this silent majority things will change for good. May God Bless you,
Alam
@Lala Gee:
You are absolutely right. You are an example for most Pakistanis, indeed they are following in your footsteps. Jinnah was indeed a great man. He saved a civilisation from disintegration.
@Rakib: Since you appreciate Ameet, why don't you emulate him? You are constantly criticizing India and full of self pity.
I am Ahamdi-Muslim and I decided to Leave Pakistan right after I had to spend two days in prison along with my brother few months ago , merely for having a Kalma posted at my shop.
Kalma was removed immediately by Mr. Mulla and I was told by Mr.Policeman to attend the Thana.. where my brother and me both were literally beaten up.
I wish all the best to the rest of my family members (which are all the minorities) to make a safe exit out of the Mullah Land.
Jazak Allah.
But wait! In modern times there is another country created on the same basis (founded by people who were fearful of a majority they did not trust) out of whole cloth.Israel. At least the vast majority of Pakistani's were already residents of the area unlike the influx of the Jewry into Palestine. And in the past we have had Spain cleansed of the scourge of Muslims and Jews and then vigilantly 'purified' by the Church of the ill-effects of the 'conversos' (converts) by means of torture during the Inquisition. The Christians who tried to run the Muslims out of Jerusalem were shocked to see the Eastern Christians and so they attacked the Eastern Christians as being heretical and considered killing those 'other' Christians a path to salvation. This is not a new or a particularly Muslim phenomenon. What is needed is the strength of will to stand up and speak out against the abominable behavior being exhibited by the country's elite. There is always a minority who will try to impose their will (heck lets not forget we have been ruled by the Pakistani Army for more years than are good for the nations soul). Speak out against the tyranny of the inept instead of trying to score cheap points. Sorry to spoil the fantasies of the RSS and their ilk so take heart all ye Pakistanis we may lose a hockey match or three but we shall survive and thrive. Pakistan Zindabad
...@ Mansi : " ...look at Bangladesh today..."! From where I stand, that country is on the edge of a civil war: religious fascists versus secular fascists. Hardly an example to emulate.
a. As the writer himself admitted and having DOUBTS that the majority of Pakistanis are consisting of common people; (not extremist); b. Why we have to leave rather than culprits; who damaging our country; it is easy to take flight than fight… we have to prove that we are brave nation… great nations faces worst times as well; and overcome the issues; it takes even years… and lastly we have to consider that the foreign elements can always be present to deteriorate the situation; and using and helping the local evils In the article writer has already explained that court takes notices; civil societies mourning with the affectees; Here I would say that the write did not give any solution of the problem, yes it is the situation of frustration but as a Muslim we can never lost the hope; yes; It is basically the government who having the resources and power to deal with such extremists; on the other hand it is also the responsibility of the law makers to make laws; policies to deal with such situations. Also we have to look that who are the beneficiaries of all this………
And ALL minorities please leave India. Oh, and that includes the Adivasis (original inhabitants of India). Women too are in a minority in India. ALL women leave India. Only Aryaputras allowed. Enjoy the land guys, ALL yours.
I thought diversity was a strength.
@SM: Actually the BEngalis were NOT a minority, they were a majority. IT is the first time in the history of world that a majority seceded from the country.
@Ameet:
Bravo Ameet! The sole Pakistani voice, that too of a beleaguered Hindu minority, optimistic, not sullen, not self-pitying, provides the most effective counterpoint. That's how Indian Minority is. Never give up! Your unsophisticated words have credibility.The Author is a kind soul & makes a rhetorical plea in anguish & probably does not mean it really but some have certainly taken him literally. To them I say: Is that all? Within 60 years spirit has evaporated & spine has melted? Aren't there folks wiling to fight for the underdog, the disadvantaged & the disenfranchised? How to leave & where to run? Some talks of escaping because they may have some choice. What about those poor chaps that have none? Invaders, marauders,famines, epidemics, floods, war & pestilence.......all these have stalked these ancient lands for thousands of years. Where did they all, the Hindus & the original inhabitants & Muslims, run, till Partition tore them apart??.It is heartbreaking that some Indians tell Indian Muslims to go to Pakistan out of contempt and Author tells the Hindus to leave Pakistan out of concern. But, both are wrong. One is deliberately ominous, the other humane but patronising.
@All Indian Trolls:
"Pakistan is in a mess because it was created on wrong basis, and every thing in India is milk and honey for Muslims and minorities."
Thanks but no thanks for your concern. We are much better of here in Pakistan. At least we are not being killed here in droves by Hindu fanatics. There is not a single incident in the whole history of Pakistan where thousands of innocents people were killed in a day or two like "Sikh's massacre of 1984", or Muslim's massacres of "Bombay in 1992" and "Gujarat in 2002". Or, the way 100,000 Kashmiri Muslims have been brutally killed by the Indian security forces is another clear indicator of the kind of "milk and honey" fed to Muslims in India. For the ignorant pseudo-liberals-cum-intellectuals of Pakistan, the findings of the 'Sachar Commission Report' should be enough to open their eyes. This report is highly recommended for the author as well, as he has some serious doubts in basis of the creation of Pakistan.
@Lala Gee
The greatest leader of recent times, surely you jest. Outside the sub-continent nobody knows Jinnah.
Bravo, well done Sir. Keeping in view of the recent unfortunate Lahore incident, perhaps the author might have thought anything less melodramatic than this writeup wouldn't prove his full allegiance with the "Employer". Well, congratulations Sir, you have really aced the test magnificently, and in my honest opinion, at least with 1000% marks. After all, the post of head of department demand some ultra loyalty. The truth is, loyalty is not a bad thing at all. But shouldn't we also reserve a little bit of it for our motherland as well; instead of negating the very basis of her existence, and in course insult the collective wisdom of millions of those who favored the creation of Pakistan. What achievement made the author think of himself omniscient with better vision and insight than the greatest leader of recent times, Mohammad Ali Jinnah. Is any conscience left there in you, Sir?
I have a suggestion.
Why don't we dissolve the country itself?
This authour is MAD why should minorities as pakistani citizen leave pakistan why should not the terrorists like taliban alqeda etc leave pakistan.very sad if pakistan cannot save its citizen and asking them to leave pakistan then they have no right to rule pakistan better they should allow foreign power to rule pakistan.
@Pakistani Shehri: " I am here and i will be working with my Muslim friends to develop a moderate Pakistan." There is your answer about how you too view the minority. "Muslim friends" only. What about the rest? And you want to develop a moderate Pakistan?
@Ameet:
Bless you....i hope this love for this country stays in you...and you dont label every one as extremist....it makes me feel good that you beliebe in Pakistan ..have a nice day..:)
Is this article for real?
"In other words, the Muslim minority of India simply refused to live with the Hindu majority of India, no matter what the reasons or consequences."
what were the "reasons" and "consequences"?
" Also, since at the root of the Muslim League’s strong demand for Pakistan was intolerance — it simply could not stand living with Hindus — it was but natural for a strong strain of intolerance to seep into the very veins of Pakistan."
what about India? Is their refusal to live under British is also part of their "intolerance" which culminated in countless massacres against their own "minorities" and "women"?
Will Pakistan be an Ocean of Peace and Tranquility once all minorities have left the country?+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Cmon readers pls share what you believe. Terror and violence ...will it disappear with no minorities? Hmmmmmmmmmm.
the minorities, united, become a majority
@Raja M.I. Khan: If, despite your current US nationality, you feel that because your parents are from Pakistan, you are a Pakistani, do you also identify with the nationality of your ancestors—none of whom were Pakistani before 1947? Or does it cause disorientation?
Not only minorities but any human who has a heart must leave Pakistan! Random killings ahead.
Forgot an important minority, sir. The Bengalis in 1971.
@Its (still) Econonmy Stupid: The Lincoln quote you provided does an excellent job of summing up the situation.
Very bold article but i appreciate the way you have analyzed it, specially the creation of Pakistan. I wont say i agree with this at this moment but certainly this is something we need to study and analyse it further. This is the first time i have read something like this specially when you say "As this mindset led to the creation of Pakistan, it also led to the creation of a very suspicious view towards other minorities" - very thought-provoking indeed.
A similar problem was faced by Sweden some decades ago. They had "right hand drive" system while the cars manufactured were left hand driven . Result lot of accidents and deaths, The solution - They adopted left hand drive.. Same is the case with Pakistan. They just have to remove "Islamic" from its formal name and repeal blasphemy law. I am sure, they can overcome the problem overnight.
You cant be indian you cant write and you have poor literacy, a typical pakistani or shall i say punjabi@Ameet:
so when is author leading the exodus let me know so I can film it.
Who will decide as to who is a minority class in the country? At least I have failed to understand this.
@Razi:
What you seem to ignore is the fact that no minorities in India want to leave India due to oppression. The real proof of discrimination and oppression is migration of minorities and reduction in their population as has been happening in Pakistan.
@realist: You have just half the story stupid; the muslims have to move to Pakistan; that's the big unfinished business. The Pakistanis did their job long back, we have not even started.
Well, I am not going to leave Pakistan. I have many Muslim friends who have stood by me through thick and thin and they have never questioned my beliefs. Why should I leave my country just because of some cripple minded people? No sir, I am here and i will be working with my Muslim friends to develop a moderate Pakistan.
Simplest and most effective solution with nothing to change and no on to go nowhere. Start calling yourself INDIANS!!!
It is a thought provoking article and thank you for being so candid.I for one did not know that Mr.Jinah was shia, how these people have covered this up for decades.
@Ameican Desi: "Solution to the problem,. though extremely far fetched and seemingly impractical but certainly not impossible, is to unite Pakistan India and Bangladesh again in one secular nation."
United in thoughts is very much desirable and required but to physically reunite the three nations is not at all desirable and will be counterproductive.
@Zalmai: "This is what happens when you try to forge a state made up of distinct and disparate groups of people without a common culture or religion"
What is true about Pakistan could also be said about India and USA. The problem with Pakistan is not the diversity but rater the intolerance for diversity.
Why should they leave? They should get their own country too - following Jinnah's logic for demanding a separate homeland for Muslims right? In this case it is ot based on suspicion of majorty but based on reality that the majority is indeed oppressive.
You are one of the few people who have the courage to admit the genesis of today's problems lie in how Pakistan was conceived. Lberals like to moan that this is not Jinnah's Pakistan and how this is all Zia's fault. They refuse to recognize that Zia did not change something fundamentally. HE simply put Jinah's Pakistan on steroids.
Solution to the problem,. though extremely far fetched and seemingly impractical but certainly not impossible, is to unite Pakistan India and Bangladesh again in one secular nation. With this arrest immediately and swiftly all the religious or political leaders who have directly or indirectly influenced violence in name of religion. Separate State and Religion, abolish quota systems which in itself creates sub sections in society by applying a caste or religious label to an individual, create a string welfare system for citizens, preach and practice tolerance...........nothing bad will come out of this.........It will be the best thing to happen to this subcontinent. Unfortunately with strong odds like interests of many foreign countries and religious bigots who have strong grip on common men's thinking, these dreams are just way difficult to achieve......but again if people's will is stronger then making such a dream a reality is certainly not impossible. Peace!!
@Mansi:
"Why should they go anywhere? Part of the country they stay should be given to them for self rule. I am sure they will do a good job, look at Bangladesh today."
Very well said. I too am sure they will do a good job.
India welcomes all oppressed people of Pakistan. A life of dignity will be guaranteed
"It did not matter if the majority was good or evil, or that a workable solution might have been devised — all that mattered was that they were a minority and hence, they needed to have their separate way." and they become majority in Pakistan.
"Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man's character, give him power (majority) ." — Abraham Lincoln bracket added.
It won't solve the problem. They will bracket some group from within the majority and call them minority.
"the Muslim minority of India simply refused to live with the Hindu majority of India, no matter what the reasons or consequences."
I think if you examine history carefully I think you'll find that the Muslims of India sided with Arab radicals and rejected the Jews' Zionist project in Palestine first, despite the fact it was founded on legal immigration and purchase and an inclusive multi-ethnic state. From there it was only a small jump to rejecting the Hindus, Ahmadis, Shia, etc....why bother about distant Palestine when there are minorities ready to be profitably dispossessed right here at home?
My parents are from Pakistan and even though I was born in America I do feel that I have a strong Pakistani identity which honestly I tried to separate myself from for most of my childhood and into adulthood. I used to consider myself more of an American in an act of defiance if you will, because of the negativity around the ignorance and bigotry of many Pakistani (Muslims) and their hateful views against the West, Christians, and other minority groups. I was one of hundreds of thousands American Muslims to enlist in the US Military after the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 to defend my country and the ideals of a democratic nation. Over the years, I have found that there is nothing wrong with going back to your 'roots' and embrace your ethnicity. After all, my parents are from Pakistan so therefore I am Pakistani. I struggle with defining what my identity is; am I Pakistani or American? I can not and will not defend the ignorant Pakistan that is highlighted by this bold article but all I can do is say what I said after the assassination of former PM Benazir Bhutto, which is that the moderate majority of Pakistan must take Pakistan back from the extremists and bigots which are giving us (Pakistanis) a bad name all over the world. If we don't denounce the violence against our neighbors and friends, the minorities of Pakistan, then who will??
sir bangash i think u can write funny blogs on some other topics this is not a topic like that..... u people have never raised voices against patwari system,thana culture etc etc.but wen it comes to the ideology of pakistan,ur pen runs like a bullet.....every one shd leave pakistan including women,then children coz child labour n juvenile crime rates.what a rhetoric......
I am extremely hurt and broken by this display of inhumanity by a ragtag of idiots. I fully agree with Dr. Bangash that minorities have no stake in Islamic republic of Pakistan and therefore they should better leave this country of pious people.
@Aftab Anwar
The hidden hand and conspiracy theories are no longer valid excuses for the failed experiment that is called Pakistan. This is what happens when you try to forge a state made up of distinct and disparate groups of people without a common culture or religion. Pashtuns and Baloch have nothing in common with Punjabis, Sindhis and Mohajirs and these differences are larger than the shared religion, which is also interpreted and practiced differently by said ethnic groups.
Let's give a standing ovation to Mr. Bangash... he has provided yet another reason to the Indian "intellectuals" here to have a field day. Blackjack has already spoken as is the wont, not leaving a chance to malign Islam. Yet he and others like him must jump to defend the idea of India as exemplified by Narendra Modi.
I have been reading an Indian newspaper for the last 12 years but haven't come across a single author who has the ability to analyse the fundamental problems of that country with any degree of impartiality, particularly the one exhibited by Mr. Bangash here, agreement or disagreement aside. The one, Arundhati Roy, who does so on some other forums is usually dubbed an anti-national and hated with a passion. That the same Indians have the nerve to say that "this op-ed is likely to achieve universal notoriety" is surreal.
Thank god...we have the fencing on the border....We as in India
Don't worry savage mulah will one day turn silent majority into voilant majority hungry for mullah's blood.That will be the day of return to civility.Im sure mullah and its supporters will fall into their trap never to come back.Destiney of mullah is destruction nobody can stop it.Pakistan definetly has a very bright future but under some conditions.
Lucky for the Jews that they left Pakistan.
I can understand hindus and christians being labeled minorities in Pakistan but cannot understand why ahmedis and shias are also labeled as minorities in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, a country that was formed for muslims and would not have come into existence if not for the shias and ahmedis. OK, ahmedis are a small population in Pakistan. How about Shias? They are nearly 20 - 25% of the population. Yet everyone calls them as minorities and even shias prefer to call themselves as minorities. How idiotic, pathetic or ironic, vicious, or whatever you may call, that in a country that was created for muslims, Shias, who as a single group make up for more than a firth or close to a quarter of its population have become a minority community. If Ahmedis are included, nearly a third of its muslim population are now minorities in a country created for their own cause.
Anyone can enlighten me. But just don't bring in anywhere in your comment that Islam preaches, equality, peace, coexistence, tolerance, etc., etc. May be Islam does but surely the majority community in Pakistan does not.
On the shining side of the sub-continent, hindus are not considered as minorities even in the only muslim ruled Indian State of Kashmir, because India as a nation, has more hindus than muslims and its hindu population includes those in Kashmir region as well.
@Ameet: whAT english is dis??????
Nothing short of a Time Machine can save Pakistan.
Why should they go anywhere? Part of the country they stay should be given to them for self rule. I am sure they will do a good job, look at Bangladesh today.
Seems that the author is not aware of the great game being played in Pakistan.I don't believe an ordinary Pakistani keep hate for non Muslims...... of course some hate our Muslim Shai brothers but that is also due to the long term planning and struggle of some external and internal hidden hands.
so when ever this type of accident occurs in Pakistan, don't cry that Pakistan is victim of sectarianism but worry about the "great game", "hidden hands" and "na maloom afraad'.
@TightPatloon: "Yes that is quite inevitable now, but the problem is also the sheer size of the minorities. Which country will take them? India not for sure. Iran maybe but only Shias. Afghanistan has nothing to offer. So the question is where will this large, constantly vicitimized minority go. which brings me to a frightening prospect that Pakistan might have to be internally divided and borders rearranged to allow this huge minority to settle."
India will accept all Hindus/Sikhs/Buddhists from Pakistan/Bangladesh. It is an unfinished business of partition.
@author, Well said. Congratulations. Emotional but true. The basis on which Pakistan was created was flawed. Since no other country will take these minorities, may be the future lies in creating a new minorities province that can stay within a federation with Pakistan but has its own security, tax system, electoral system etc. basically an autonomous area. Ask the Pakistanis, what do they want?
So sad but good advise for minorities in Pakistan.
You are courting serious trouble, dear sir. The liberals want to believe that the country was meant to be this mythical land of equality and harmony, regardless of its divisive origins - and the current wave of extremism therefore cannot be traced back to the Pakistan movement; so they blame Zia/ the army/ corrupt politicians etc instead of the silent majority who bought their tickets on this trip because they wanted a country for muslims; well - this will soon be achieved. The conservatives want to believe that there is no intolerance in Islam which was the raison d'étre of Pakistan, so the current wave of extremism cannot be explained by the Pakistan movement, and so is best ignored, - they also know that Pakistan grows increasingly 'Pak' every day, so why complain. Thus, this op-ed is likely to achieve universal notoriety.
A thought provoking initiative rightly focused on issue seeking our attention. Intolerance, bigotry and defiance to reverence the rights of fellows is an abject evil shabbily shaping our national image and if this unkempt environment is uncontrolled will leave nothing to us. Most of the time augmented for the rant of covert motives of groups and political forces engage in the bloodiest game, Pakistan only is with its people- its inhabitants and breaking them into segments willingly or guiltlessly will bring nothing but barren land only devoid of exquisite race of humans irrespective of their apparent recognition in religion and following of faith. We need to grow up is the right time for us.
Being an hindu i will stand up for pakistan!!!!!its not abt christain !ive to change this Pakistann......if you are scared ucan leave...it doesnt matter !my friends...ive muslm friends dey never asked what religion i belong to being an hindu dey always respectd me!as compared muslims are more backwards but in pakista muslims are more forwards i love dat i believe we'd be da succesful nation alive............we all will unite one day change dis pakistan
I already did. Thanks
"since at the root of the Muslim League’s strong demand for Pakistan was intolerance — it simply could not stand living with Hindus — it was but natural for a strong strain of intolerance to seep into the very veins of Pakistan"
Brave words....however there is some opportunity left even now if the so called "True" Muslims accept and celebrate the diversity that still survives in Pakistan and let go the intolerance which they have inculcated for the (at least) past 65 years. No need to consider India as their friends but making enemy out of Shias/Ahmedis/Hindus is also not going to do any good. Saying goes "all well that ends well" but in case of Pakistan it seems "all doomed that beginning doomed"
What a write-up. The sentence " The majority of Pakistanis might not be keen on exterminating the minorities (though I am beginning to have doubts here)", says it all.
Yes that is quite inevitable now, but the problem is also the sheer size of the minorities. Which country will take them? India not for sure. Iran maybe but only Shias. Afghanistan has nothing to offer. So the question is where will this large, constantly vicitimized minority go. which brings me to a frightening prospect that Pakistan might have to be internally divided and borders rearranged to allow this huge minority to settle.
