Australia got off to a good start by scoring the first three goals in the opening 17 minutes of the match.
The first goal was scored in the 8th minute when Daniel Mirecki picked up a loose ball in a semi-circle to smash it home with the Pakistan defenders caught flat footed.
In the very next minute, Matt Ghodes placed the ball into the corner of the Pakistani goal.
Australia scored their third in the 17th minute and the fourth a minute before the halftime.
The last two goals were scored using penalty corners in the 45th and 61st minute respectively.
Pakistan had beaten New Zealand 4-3 in the opening match of the cup on Saturday.
Pakistan had secured the bronze medal in the 2012 Champions Trophy before winning the Asian Champions Trophy, while last year’s Azlan Shah Cup was won by New Zealand.

It is not just the defeat it is total surrender.
A totally new and inexperienced Indian team fared better against Australia and lost the match with score of 2-3.
What has become of Pakistani hockey? 7-0 in the Olympics and now this.
Thats what I feared in my comment regarding victory against New Zealand. Our defense is simply pathetic facing top class opposition. I doubt if Australia can score so many goals against other teams in the tournament.
