PAF go down to KRL

Kahuta Research Laboratories (KRL) began their Pakistan Premier League (PPL) title defence with a 2-0 win.

KARACHI: Kahuta Research Laboratories (KRL) began their Pakistan Premier League (PPL) title defence with a 2-0 win against Pakistan Air Force (PAF) Wapda, Pakistan Elecktron Limited (Pel) and Pakistan Army gained full three points in their second matches as well.

KRL’s right winger Muhammad Qasim scored the first goal in the 37th minute to end the first half. KRL continued to dominate in the second half as well as Kalimullah Khan scored the second goal in the 62nd minute to seal the win.

Meanwhile, Army won their second PPL match against Pakistan Navy. Full-back Umar Daraz scored the only goal of the match in the final minute of the game.

In another match, seven-time national champion Wapda sealed a 3-0 victory against home team PMC Athletico Faisalabad owed largely to Arif Mehmood’s brace, while winger Imran Niazi scored the third goal. Mehmood is also the highest scorer of the tournament with three.

Pel also defeated Young Blood FC 2-1 as Asmatullah, Muhammad Rashid scored the goals for the winnings team. “We are the underdogs in the league and I can see my team making it to the quarter-finals,” Pel coach Tahir Maqsood told The Express Tribune. “We gave a tough time to Wapda in our last match. Overall our team is doing well in the league.”
