Exchange Of Fire: Suspect killed, police constable injured

Samanabad police said Eagle Squad Constables Asif and Riaz were fired at by four armed robbers.

FAISALABAD: A suspected robber was killed and a police constable was wounded in an exchange of fire in Samanabad Colony on Friday.

Samanabad police said Eagle Squad Constables Asif and Riaz were fired at by four armed robbers. They said the police team returned the fire. As a result of which an unidentified robber was killed and constable Asif was seriously injured. Asif was taken to divisional headquarters hospital where his condition is said to be critical. Operations SSP Ghazi Salahuddin said the deceased robber had been identified as Sajid Jameel, a resident of Vehari. He said the four robbers had looted Yaseen Corporation in D-Type Colony area and killed a naib qasid of Iqbal Town TMA, Yaseen, when he resisted. The Eagle Squad had chased and intercepted the robbers, he added. He further said the robbers who managed to escape from the scene had also been identified and special police teams had been formed to trace their whereabouts.
