RAWALPINDI: The Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F) chief Pir Pagara has said that it would be a miracle if the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) manages to secure more than 50 seats in the national assembly in the upcoming polls, Express News reported.

Speaking to the media at Lal Haweli in Rawalpindi, the PML-F chief said public sentiment was polarized against the PPP.

“I have been in Punjab for past five days. I met a lot of different people. In Sindh we had the perception that the PPP will take a clear majority in polls. But after looking at the reaction of people in different areas, I am not so sure.”

The Pir Pagara in a matter-of-fact manner said that it would be very difficult for the PPP to secure enough seats to form a government in the centre. “Maybe my figures are not accurate, but there are around 340 seats in the National Assembly, and if the PPP manages to secure even 50 seats in the upcoming polls, it will be a miracle.”

“It is not the point of what other parties have worked for, rather it is the PPP that has destroyed itself in the way it has run the country so far.”

The  PML-F  chief said that any government that is elected into power will have to face the after effects of the incumbent government’s five year term. “They have pushed the country far back. The situation is so bad that even the government that is elected into power, it will be a headache for them to take the country forward.”

The PML-F has agreed to an electoral alliance with the PML-N, primarily to contest against the PPP.
