KARACHI:

After receiving Rs827 million from the provincial government, the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) will start paying the much-delayed salaries and pensions to its employees from Wednesday.

The organisation has received Rs500 million for salaries and Rs326.9 million under the Octroi Zila Tax from the provincial government earlier this week, said a statement issued by the KMC. “Salaries are our first priority,” said Karachi administrator Hashim Raza Zaidi, who is also holding the office of commissioner. “This will help motivate employees to do their jobs with sincerity.”

Thousands of employees have been facing problems as the city administration depends on Sindh government for funds.
