Rash driving: One killed, 15 injured in road accident

ISLAMABAD: A man was killed and 15 others were injured when a speeding passenger van overturned in Sector G-11 on Monday in the jurisdiction of Ramna Police Station. The Ramna police said the driver of the van was overtaking another van in a bid to reach bus stop first, but lost control over the vehicle and it overturned. As a result, Mumtaz died on the spot, while 15 others including two women were injured. The injured were shifted to Pims. The police said five victims have been discharged after getting basic first aid while the rest of injured were reported to be in stable condition. The driver, whose name could not be ascertained, fled the scene after the accident. The police confiscated the vehicle and registered a case against the unidentified driver.
