Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Monday unveiled its nine-point industrial policy, vowing to revive the industry by restoring confidence of investors and create 10 million new jobs for youth by shifting focus to skill development.
“Industry in Pakistan is in dire straits due to a crippling energy crisis, lack of access to finance and skill shortages, hence the PTI industrial policy aims to build solid foundations for the revival of industry by creating 10 million new jobs for the youth over the next five years and to make the sector more viable and competitive in international markets,” said PTI leader Asad Umar, while announcing the industrial policy.
Speaking to the media on the occasion, PTI Chairman Imran Khan said the country would no longer be in need of any foreign aid if his party was voted to power as the main focus of PTI would be on human development and eradicating corruption.
“Poverty has been increasing due to rising corruption and the only solution to inflation is to eliminate corruption and take action against those involved in corrupt practices. We will ensure supremacy of law and will not use the army against the public,” said the PTI chief.
“Country can be made richer by recovering public money kept in offshore accounts by some corrupt leaders,” he said, adding only PTI could take such a step as its leaders had all their assets in Pakistan.
Poor law and order had compelled investors to stop businesses in Pakistan, he said and asked “how can an investor come to the country where cricketers are not ready to play.”
He claimed that just 90 days were required to enforce rule of law in the country, making it clear that all the PTI policies and decisions were doable.
He pointed out that talent was present in Pakistan, but lack of skills has hampered progressive activities. “Our party’s main focus will be on skill development to make people perform their best not only for their own country but also in foreign countries,” he said.
PTI has also committed to eliminating electricity and gas shortages within its first term in office by resolving the circular debt problem with the help of a lower cost of power generation and reduction in line losses.
“Gas import should be expedited and equitable rationing of resources should be ensured until gas arrives. Provinces will have to play their role in developing indigenous energy resources and making Pakistan an energy-secure state,” stressed the PTI leader.
Senior party leaders including Jahangir Khan Tareen, Naeemul Haq, Ayla Malik, Dr Israr Shah and others were present on the occasion.
Asad Umar underlined the need for taking proactive and effective measures to boost investor confidence, stressing that rent seeking and corruption needed to be checked and an alternative dispute resolution mechanism developed to speed up contract enforcement.
“PTI in its economic policy has committed to reducing fiscal deficit to 4.5% of GDP, creating space for banks to lend to the industry and SMEs. We will set up specialised financial institutions to raise long-term capital for the industry by focusing on developing vibrant debt and capital markets to fund investment spending,” he said.
PTI will also allocate land for special economic zones around every major urban centre to develop industries based on natural resources.
PTI’s skills development strategy aims to scale up enrollment for acquiring technical skills to two million workers from less than 0.3 million today. “Technical skills for workers will not only boost individual income generation capacity, but also the productivity of the industry,” he added.

A very Raw document a general statement of policy,
Asad umer is not a financial expert and has never worked for international monetary institution nor for world bank,He was CEO of a Previosly Exxon chemical and later Engro which used pakistani Gas at a heavily subsidized rate for 24years to enrich huge profits.its competitor fauji fertilizer were in the same business managed by GENERALS .
Wheras PMLN has world renowned financial experts who have International experience of handling and managing pak economy
PTI has started to sound a lot like those politicians who every election promise their voters that they will turn their village or town or city into Paris.
And what is the Noora's plan, anyone heard of what any other party will be doing. I am enjoying this right now. Election hasn't even been set yet and the PMLN is already celebrating a victory. All the signs of a party that has peaked at just the wrong time. Now the only way to go is down. Mark my words its going to be a come from behind victory for PTI.
@Syed Khurram Mohiuddin: Corruption -> Low tax morale -> Low tax to GDP ratio -> High fiscal deficit -> Govt using low interest rates to borrow funds or printing money to pay expenditures -> high money supply -> high inflation.
@Syed Khurram Mohiuddin: Fiscal irresponsibility is corruption! Printing paperbacks to finance exorbitant government expenditures is negligence at best and corruption at worst.
//the only solution to inflation is to eliminate corruption//
Just goes to show how Imran Khan knows about Macroeconomics!
@kungfupanda: Dude...if Asad Umar is not capable, then who in Pakistan is? The guy single handedly took Engro's revenue from teens to above 100 billion rupees in less than a decade with CAGR of above 30%, if that is not competence, I honestly don't know what is.
This guy is a fighter from 1992 world cup and making of the cancer hospital. Every thing is possible for this guy.
@ex pti: Every thing is possible at least he make good sense better than other politicians in every field of life. Distributing money, laptops and sasti roti can't help a country grow and develop, it needs to be done with a plan. I don't think that Govt ruling today has ever created a plan for a proper sewerage system in Pakistan and you are expecting them to make a plan for future development?
I think, if we have an honest leadership who even deliver only 10% of their policies for the betterment of quality of life then we got CHANGE!!
PTI needs serious homework this time. As the people have already decided to vote them. I can hardly find any personal in my whole contact list who is not willing to vote for PTI.
Win Next Elections please, as an engineer I feel how frustrated the technical youth in this country are. They are happy in underpaid jobs and even switching their technical fields. Moreover present situation is the biggest factor in brain drain. Just WIN it for this country sake.
Its not a job creation but giving jobs back to those who have suffered energy and gas crisis, especially people of faisalabad, but for this they have to come up with possible energy and security solutions. Overall a good initiative but there are other parties who have potential to provide those lost jobs as well.
@napoleanspeersahb : asad omer was quite detrimental for Engro and was asked to leave for almost ruining the company he's not as competent as you would make him out to be although there are plenty of capable people in PTI
When people will understand their issue? When they will vote for their issue? If Not NOW Then Never! Vote for PTI!
@Bhatti: i really appreciate your spirit.
@Roni: The problem with us is we are all "Roniis". We never offer solutions only criticism, if anyone has a better policy please state it now or forever hold your peace. We as a nation are so inured to lies handed out to us by our politicians, that we are incapable of accepting anything else. If you think this is a lie, then go vote for any of the other two parties who have given you so much. Pity the nation.
@pakistani: I feel sorry for those who have even lost the ability to dream. Such is the state of affairs in our country. It is better than the nightmares of the other political parties.
My Vote is for PTI!! I am Gona make PTI Ticket holder win from my Area!! I will start campaigning myself...and do every thing else i could to contribute in bringing these guys into power!! VOTE FOR PTI! VOTE FOR CHANGE!!
Obama could not create this many jobs. He should adopt PTI's programs to become successful. Lies and more lies is the order of the day or whatever it takes to the power.
Asad Umar has worked in the real world at Engro, unlike certain politicians who have never worked a day in their lives. Asad Umar knows what it takes.
PTI has no electables
PTI has no policies
Why did PTI accept electables
PTI policies can't be implemented
If you read such comments, you know why our nation is confused and whole reason for this mess. These corrupt parties fool the people again and again and we fall for it as well. Whether these policies can be implemented or not is yet to be seen but for GOD's sake appreciate the fact that they are spending time making policies rather than list of politicians to buy. The other parties have outdated policies if any and time has proven that they have NOT been implemented. Shame on people who go back to these old parties, YOU are the reason we are in mess and you are being fooled AGAIN.
Stop fooling the youth.claiming such like that dont make you hero.I mean how can one believe he'll 10million jobs.is there any government in past which controlled line losses??and for your kind information rate of corruption in china is much more than Pakistan but still they rule the digital world in someways, the need of the time is infrastructure.
this is almost the exact same policy outline that the musharraf government was following from 02-07. remarkable that jehangir tareen and asad umar could only rehash the old policy with marginally new ideas
PTI will win inshaAllah no matter what.
Empty vessels make most noises. Though I havent voted for any party yet but the only party which had done practically for its constituents its karachi's 85% mandate party so my vote will be for people who work like them esp Mustafa Kamal
IK save us from these animals. they are destroying us everyday
The policy announced by the PTI seems to be okay but the first thing is that PTI should come into power to implement its policies.
I am not going to apply for PTI's party ticket, pay the required fee and the wait for the interview. It's a long process. IK should know as who is who in the country and how can he or she become viable for PTI.
The single biggest issue that Pakistan is facing is the law and order situation. If laws cannot be enforced and criminals cannot be put behind bars, no industrial or economic policies will ever work.
@khan: so who is fit for politics ?? PML(N) or PPP ? will u plz like to share your thoughts :)
At least Imran Khan has a vision for this country. What are the other politicians going to do? What is Nawas Sharif's plan? What is he going to do differently that Zardari hasn't done before? How is he going to change our country? Why should we give Nawas Sharif, a man we already gave a chance before and who had failed us and who has so many corruption charges, a second chance and not Imran Khan who has no corruption charges? Use your head PTI haters. And if you're a Musharraf supporter than you're even worse because Musharraf is the one who got us into America's 9/11 war in the first place! Vote for a leader who hasn't failed you before. Musharraf, Zardari and Sharif have all failed us before. Vote PTI!
We have been hearing these false promises for over 65 years,... Whoever comes to power, they show the same colors.. and PTI is of no exception. I dont think we have any hope of recovery in short - mid term.
Intra party electons, 25% tickets for youth, polices in documented form n before elections PTI. I salute u
Personally even if he creates 100 jobs I'll readily vote for him, he'll still have created more employment than the current government.
I Doubt it if it happend like Egypt then Khuda Hafiz tumhara.
Good, fighting words. But do-able?
It don't seems realistic, unless any change in mentality of all people
I wonder if we as a nation has actually learnt our lessons and people actually see these policies to decide who to vote. I think it is an excellent initiative by PTI, but I really dont know how many people will actually read it and change their mind. To me majority will still give vote or "jirga" system, "bradari" system etc etc.
I am sure there will still be people saying that PTI has no policy. I personally think that only PTI has the real policy. Let' vote for PTI.
Thanks PTI for a comedy scene in a gruesome movie
I'm 100% confident that Imran Khan and his team can achieve this goal (in shah ALLAH)
For the all those who are going to criticize PTI's policies, please remember that we will now discuss PTI's industrial policy because there is one!!! Same goes for all of PTI's others policies. The day I see a proper policy for any sector from incumbent political parties is the day pigs will fly.
Please, kick out this filth and vote for PTI. The parties that are currently in power (and a few that are not) have been tried and tested, and have been found wanting, over and over again! Enough is enough!!
Imran Khan you are making us dream again...
All Imran polices are not realistic and achievable these are just to deceive people .Govt are run not on slogans but on concrete polices and by those who know the skill.Instead of politics Khan should concentrate on Charity and cancer hospitals. We do appreciate him for all these. As far politics is concerned he is totally unfit .The coming election which will prove my contention.
I have to look at the details of the policy, but the very fact that PTI took initiative on this front is impressive.
Stressing upon economy and unemployment tackling is the right strategy! Look at how India's economy leapfrogged in the last decade; investments of major US companies created so many jobs for the middle and lower class and now their standard of living has improved so much. This has lead to other major investments in the country and brought forth results like IPL -- where the Tim Mays of the world might issue warnings against international cricketers in playing in India and yet everyone turns up for the money but on the other hand even Bangladesh refuses to come to Pakistan over player security. All in all, when people would have jobs to turn up to, they won't waste time on dharnas, pahiya-jaam strikes and other things they would do when they have nothing better to do.
Imran khan please stop fooling people by making tall claims. even terrorism can be eradicated in 90 days as you have claimed earlier.
PTI brilliant team is working hard to develop policies and complete their home work for next government. Its the only party which has developed detailed policies regarding different issues. We are going to see Naya Pakistan InshAllah.
Excellent initiative by PTI, kudos to Asad Umar. No industry = no jobs = more terrorism
