QUETTA: Cable operators in Balochistan have suspended their services in parts of the province after receiving threats.

President of the Cable Operators Association Babrak Khan said on Sunday that 80% of the people in the business belonged to poor families. He added that while a few political parties, armed groups and security forces were pressuring them to suspend their services, there was another set of pressure group which wanted the cables services to operate.

An organisation, Lashkar-e-Baka-e-Pakistan pushed the operators to restore the services. He explained that the operators had nothing to do with the news stories aired by television channels and the issue should instead be taken up with the news channels.

Khan said that after threats cable service was suspended in 14 districts of Balochistan.
