Swabi road accident: 12 injured as two vehicles overturn

Three of the injured were taken to headquarters hospital in critical condition.

SWABI: At least 12 people were injured when two pickup vehicles overturned near Topi Kharkhano Square in Swabi on Sunday.

An official of Topi police said two pickup vans en route from Gadoon Gandaf area turned over as they were speeding. Among the injured were women and children too.



Following the incident, residents rushed to the site to help with rescue operations and shifted the injured to the civil hospital in Topi. Three of the injured, who were in critical condition, were taken to the district headquarters hospital.



The drivers identified as Jamal Shah and Amin were accused for reckless driving which caused the accident, the official said, adding both the vehicles were impounded and a case was filed against the drivers. Local politician Rehman Hussain and his family were also among the injured. The police have started investigation.
