The Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F) said on Saturday that it had formed a committee of lawyers which will approach the Supreme Court to stop the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) from becoming the main opposition party in the Sindh Assembly.
The party will also approach the Election Commission of Pakistan, requesting it to decide if the MQM can become the main opposition party after being a part of the coalition government in the province for the past five years.
PML-F’s legal team will go the court on Monday. Simultaneously, the party will also argue for the ECP to intervene.
“True opposition should have the right to participate in the formation of the interim government,” said PML-F Senator Muzaffar Hussain Shah at a press conference. “We believe there is mala fide intention on the part of them [MQM] to become the opposition.”
With a clear majority in the Sindh Assembly, the MQM could easily emerge as the main opposition party. Under the law, it is supposed to negotiate with its ally, the ruling Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), to form the caretaker government set-up.
“The MQM’s governor has still not resigned. What kind of opposition is this?” Questioned Shah.

It must be a " sue o motto" action from the honorable CJ of supreme court, as it seriously violates the rights of the genuine opposition parties in Sindh, especially, PML-F. Dear respectable sir, "Fakhru Bhai", you have to (and must) stand up and support the true opposition parties, to setup the interim government. Thanks.
Well done PML F.
Don't let them get away with these shenanigans
Media should take the lead in exposing ruling coalition partners drama to hijack the elections in Sind.
Hidden agenda and the drama of sitting in opposition to fool the people of Pakistan must be exposed. All the right minded political parties of Pakistan should extend full support to PML (F).
This is right move, dont let ruling coalition hijack elections. Go ahead PMLF. The PPP-MQM drama has to be exposed. Thanks to media, they are completely exposed.
