At least four people were killed on Saturday by unidentified armed men in the Tump area of Kech district, some 1,000 kilometres from the provincial capital.
The men ambushed a private vehicle near the Rodban Bridge, killing four men on the spot.
Balochistan Levies forces official Munir Ahmed told The Express Tribune that the victims were travelling to Mand from Tump when they were ambushed. After opening fire on their vehicle, the assailants set it on fire.
Balochistan levies forces rushed to the spot soon after the incident and cordoned off the area. The deceased were taken to the District Headquarters Hospital, Turbat.
The victims were identified as Abdullah, Nasir, Yar Ijaz Ahmed and Mohammad. Ahmed was a resident of Karachi, while the other three lived in Tump.
Addressing the media, Tehsildar Husain Jan said the motive is still unknown. “However, so far investigation shows that one of the victims, Abdullah, had a tribal enmity,” he added.
He added that weapons were seized from the burnt vehicle.
