FAFEN report: 23 postings, transfers made in 11 districts

With the dissolution of the national and provincial assemblies around the corner ahead of the general elections, at least 23 postings and transfers of administrative officials were recorded in 11 districts across Pakistan in the last one month.


An updated Free and Fair Election Network (Fafen) report on Saturday said the postings and transfers were recorded in eight districts of Punjab, two in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) and one in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata).

The transfers and postings were recorded in the judiciary, police, district administration, education department and other departments of the district governments in the 11 districts during February.

Most of the reshuffling, 87%, was recorded in the eight districts of Punjab. The highest number was noted in the provincial police department, with 16 transfers constituting 69% of all cases.

A total of 13 station house officers (SHO), two district police officers (DPOs) and one senior superintendent of police (SSP) Operations were transferred in Punjab.

The SHOs were changed in Okara, Khanewal, Rawalpindi, Sialkot and Hafizabad. DPOs in Sargodha and Sialkot were transferred, along with the SSP Operations in Rawalpindi.

One district and sessions judge in Vehari, an assistant commissioner in Vehari, one civil judge in Khanewal and another civil servant in Gujranwala were transferred.

An executive district officer (EDO) was transferred in the Kurram Agency of Fata, while two public servants in Nowshera and Haripur districts of K-P were re-posted.
