Landslide: Three women killed, seven injured

MANSEHRA: Three women, including two real sisters, were killed and seven others injured when a house was buried under a heavy landslide in Torghar district, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.

The house was completely destroyed, the police said. People from the area carried out a rescue operation and recovered them after half an hour.

Those killed were identified as Nazeera Bibi, wife of Nasib Zarin, 16-year-old Aeena Bibi and 18-year-old Umaira Bibi-daughters of Shamshal Khan.

The injured included Shamshal Khan, his two sons Tehsin Ullah, Abdullah and his wife Bakht Nafeesa, daughter Najma and two nephews.

Shamshal Khan, resident of village Cham Mangri Basi Khel was having dinner with his family members when a heavy mass of earth fell on their house, the police said.

The injured were dispatched to King Abdullah Hospital Mansehra where the condition of four of them is reported to be critical. The recent spell of rain was the cause of the landslide.
