KARACHI: After some dazzling performances by O’ and A’ level students of the Beaconhouse School System last month, the middle school students also showcased their dramatic prowess at another theatrical event on Friday.

Around 25 students from various campuses participated and performed in the plays at the Middle School Drama Festival 2013. The performances were thoroughly enjoyed by the largely adult audience.

The show opened with young performers of North Nazimabad Middle campus winning hearts as the much-loved characters of the Jane Austen’s English classic ‘Pride and Prejudice’. This was followed by a performance on ‘The Changeling’ by the PECHS campus, ‘Anna and the King of Siam’ by the Jubilee campus, ‘Falling Stars’ by the Defence campus and ‘The Merchant of Venice’ by the Gulshan Middle II campus.

‘The Changeling’, which was a stunning re-enactment of a 1980 horror-thriller with the same title, won the best drama award.

The students of the PECHS campus outdid their counterparts from other campuses with their performance, costumes and props in presenting the truth of a betrayal that was buried 50 years ago.

TV drama producer and director Kazim Pasha, as well as, artists Agha Sheraz and Javeria Abbasi distributed prizes amongst the young actors. Pasha was all praises for the hard work of the students and the efforts of Beaconhouse School System to promote literature and theatre at all levels.
