LAHORE: Khateeb Badshahi Masjid Mulana Abdul Khubair Azad  on Friday said that no un-Islamic material had been utilised in the manufacturing of polio immunisation drops, in a lecture on polio awareness.

Maulana Azad was addressing a seminar regarding polio at Badshahi Mosque after Jummah prayers. The Khateeb also emphasised that renowned Islamic scholars had given fatwas in favor of polio drops.

District Coordination Officer Lahore Noorul Amin Mengal also addressed the seminar and gave the example of India, saying it is a country of one billion people and it has no polio cases.

He urged the citizens of Lahore, and Pakistan at large to come forward and eradicate polio virus. He further said, “People should vaccinate their children for polio, measles, hepatitis A, B and C.”

He announced that CDGL had made it mandatory for parents to submit the vaccination card in order to enroll their children into school and to get their birth certificates.

He asked the citizens to cooperate with the polio teams.

Its actually a shame that we needed a cleric to convince people about the benefits of vaccination. That khateeb didn't have a divine revelation about vaccines. He also has been told about this by doctors. Its simply disturbing that our people choose to trust a hardly matric pass cleric more than an MBBS(minimum qualification) doctor.

Just wondering if the Maulana did his own laboratory analysis of the polio drops or is he just saying what he is told to.

Read the following article on how the polio vaccine has increased 12 fold the cases of deadly paralysis (non-polio acute flaccid paralysis (NPAFP)) in India. The educated of our society must educate those who are not. By the way, in our family we are not vaccinating our children, just making sure they eat healthy.
