Angry youths hurled stones at buses and police, who then used batons to break up the demonstration outside the hospital which is located in a low-income neighbourhood, India's NDTV channel reported.
"The protesters were angry over the assault on the little girl and were demanding that police act against the culprit," the police official told AFP.
The official, who asked not to be identified, said the second-grader was sexually assaulted on Friday morning while at school.
After police were called, the child was taken to hospital and later discharged.
"The crowds have dispersed and the situation is normal," the official said.
Police are investigating the case, he added.
Two school teachers and a security guard have been detained for questioning, local media reports said.
India has seen a surge in anti-rape demonstrations in recent weeks after thousands took to the streets to protest against police inaction following the fatal gang-rape of a 23-year-old student on a Delhi bus in December.

@libra any doubt??
Do you think india is a better place to live?
@Vectra: Buddy @Deepwater is an Indian. HE was being sarcastic.
@Uzair: Thank you.
... for years Indian government has sanctioned the use of Rape as a tool of State Oppression ... particularly in Occupied Kashmir ... Mulli-wood film culture has thrived on use violence, exploitation of women and flesh trade ...
...What else can be the result?!
@Hasnain:
"kindly protest about more than 3000 women raped in Indian occupied Kashmir by Indian army as well."
First, your number is inflated Pakistani propaganda. I am sure there have been incidents of rape in Kashmir but most of them were not by the security forces. In the few cases where the security forces were charged, the legal system pursued the cases according to law.
Now can you tell us what Pakistan has done with the hundreds of rape cases of Hindu girls and forced conversion? On a bigger scale, what has Pakistan done about the 400,000 E. Pakistani women raped by the Pakistani army personnel?
Violence against any innocent people, especially women can't be condoned away or tolerated in any civilized society.
As a Pakistani (male) I apologize to women everywhere and these protestors in particular for the utterly crass and misogynistic attitude on display here by some of my countrymen. I am happy to see the growing civil awareness in India towards the horror of rape and sensitivity towards the victims.
To my follow Pakistanis trying to score cheap points against India: please speak first against how rape victims in Pakistan never get justice, and if they come out and register an FIR they are likely to be jailed or lashed themselves thanks to our archaic laws and patriarchal tribal society.
If we had no God, we would be compelled to create one to regulate ethics and morality, said Voltair in 16th century.
The dams have opened up and what the Indians have been practicing against women in the land of avatars and Kama sutra are no longer acceptable for Indian women in 21st century. Indian police can no longer control rapes with 1871 colonial laws.

@Deepwater:
Stop dreaming kid! We do protest against all problems that exist under our feet. you better take care of your country!
@Hammad: "After effects of Naked Bollywood"
Rapes happen everywhere. But people do not protest everywhere. When rapes in Pakistan are reported you will be hard pressed to find Indians gloating because rapes are a crime against humanity.
@Ali, @Hasnain
3000 rapes - where di you get thoee nmbers from? YEs when an army is fighting foreign funded insurgencies, some excesses do happen unfortunately. But even the CM of J&K gets involved to make sure that such abuses by army are punished.
@Vectra
Pakistanis do protest - they protest for the Palestinians, the Kashmiris, the Rohingyas, etc. They just don't protest against problems that exist under their feet. Those they deal with a heavy dose of denial.
Hey fanatics Hindus why don't you raise your voice against those rapes committed by your Army in Kashmir.
@Ali: @Hasnain: I can also ask "What about the 4 lakh Bangladeshi women during 1971???"
Shame on you guys to score cheap brownie points on a matter as sensitive as rape...This shows how much you respect women...This is not about nationality,religion,race etc....If you get more thrilled than sad at the fact that such an incident happened at ur enemy country,please check a psychiatrist..
Raising a hue and a cry helps of course. It shows our public awareness. but then we should be sure before we protest. Many times innocents get targetted as culprits.
incredible Endia kindly protest about more than 3000 women raped in Indian occupied Kashmir by Indian army as well.
