This walk out came days after differences between the MQM and the ruling Pakistan People's Party (PPP) came out in the open, in the wake of the Sindh government re-imposing a district and commissioner based system in the province through a parliamentary legislation.
Before staging the walk out, members of the MQM protested against the petroleum price hikes - when the prices had actually fallen in the international market.
During the question and answer session, State Minister for Water and Power Tasneem Ahmed Qureshi told the assembly that the HUBCO power plant tripped due to excessive load, resulting in load shedding.
Qureshi also said that National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) was an obstacle in the path of electricity producing companies.
A written response by Water and Power Minister Ahmad Mukhtar states that Pakistan was taking steps to buy 500 megawatt electricity from India and 100 mega watts from Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Iran each.
During the session, Federal Minister for Education and Training Sheikh Waqas Akram revealed that in response to his address on Quetta tragedy, IG Punjab Police have started taking vindictive actions against him.
Earlier, in a talk show, Akram had put forward a bold stance on the Hazara town bombings in Quetta, alleging that former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his party, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) were supporting banned organisations in the country.
He alleged that following his stance on the talk show, IG Punjab had halted the privileges his family had been receiving for the past nine years, his security guards had been removed and his life was in jeopardy as well.
The assembly session was adjourned till 5pm on Monday.

No such protests help, because the motives are self--satisfying. MQM is as fake as any other party,
@Ali, Did PML N protest in any respect against the price hike. The protest which is your eyes are protest. They not even did bother to give a single press release against the hike.
simple question that needs to be inquired that has walking out creating any slutions to the problem,NO IT DOES NOT. Every representative should have stood up on the floor and mocked the government over the price hike....... protest should be like the one done by PML-N on an annual address by Mr. Zardari in the assembly last year.... walking out is just like students bunking a class......... or in better way sounding a pipe in front of an OX.............
"Taking steps to buy electricity from India and Tajikistan". BISP money could have been used to produce energy to meet our needs.
