Court takes notice of illegal markhor hunting
The court directed the chief conservative officer to sensitise locals on protection of wildlife.

The Peshawar High Court (PHC) has taken note of illegal hunting of a markhor in Chitral.
On Wednesday, a PHC division bench comprising Chief Justice Dost Muhammad Khan and Justice Irshad Qaisar heard complaints that some influential people had hunted a markhor illegally.
The bench asked upon the Additional Advocate General Naveed Akhtar, police and deputy commissioner to trace the culprits, adding that cases would be registered against any officials found guilty.
The court also directed the chief conservative officer to sensitise locals on protection of wildlife.
On February 20, some hunters fled after shooting dead a markhor worth Rs9.5 million in Birmoghlasht Mountains of Chitral District. Officials had said that hunters escaped with the body of the markhor but the head was retrieved by a guard of the Chitral Goul National Park.
Markhor, being the national animal in found in the northern parts of the country and is a large species of wild goat.
