Deputy Prime Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi has been elected unopposed as the president of Pakistan Muslim League – Quaid (PML-Q), Express News reported on Wednesday.

Chaudhry Zaheer was elected as the secretary general of the party.

In 1993, Elahi was elected Deputy Opposition Leader in Punjab assembly and also acted as Leader of the Opposition. He was elected unopposed Speaker of Punjab Assembly in 1997.

Elahi was also the chief minister of Punjab from 2002 to 2007.

Earlier, Elahi lashed out against Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), alleging that the party has done nothing for the development of southern Punjab.

Recently, Elahi dubbed the PML-N an ‘anti-peasants’ party and said the Punjab government had no interest in solving people’s problems, instead, it was involved in corrupt activities.

Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain was the former president of the party.

Why blame PML Q only?.Most political parties except PTI and Jamat e Islami never held any true election in their party. Our powerful EC nevery took any action against those parties and awarded party symbols with out any hazitation.Constitution clearly says that every political party would organize intra pary elections.

You mean to say their was no body else to contest against him? How many votes did he get? There are how many members in this party? There is no young horse in this party who could lead this party. If none people must not vote for this party's candidates.
