Karachi unrest case: SC issues show-cause notice to IG Sindh over ‘incomplete’ report
Bench says IG's report did not mention the role of corrupt police officials in criminal proceedings.
KARACHI:
The Karachi registry of the Supreme Court issued a show-cause notice to Inspector General (IG) of Sindh Police Fayyaz Leghari on Tuesday, while hearing the Karachi law and order case, Express News reported.
The five-member bench, headed by Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali, maintained that the report by the IG on proceedings against 423 criminals failed to mention the role of SSP Farrukh Bashir and SSP Pir Farid Jan.
The bench said that there are several police officers, who despite being the protectors of the state, are involved in criminal activities.
The court ordered IG Leghari to submit a fresh report on the criminal proceedings in the hearings that have now been adjourned till Wednesday.
