HYDERABAD: Six students were injured when a fight broke out between two groups, Jeay Sindh Students Federation (JSSF) and Baloch Students Organisation (BSO), of Sindh Agriculture University, Tandojam, on Thursday.

Members of the JSSF forced students to boycott their classes and protest against the government for not according national status to the Sindhi language.

They beat up members of BSO who responded in kind. The two groups also started firing gunshots in the air due to which students at the hostel had to be evacuated.

Tandojam DSP Ghulam Shabbir Baloch explained that no student has been arrested. “We searched the hostel for students who started the fight but they escaped.”

The university spokesperson explained that the administration hasn’t decided yet whether or not to lodge an FIR against the students but they will take disciplinary action.
