DG-ISPR: Fair, transparent elections supported by army

Lifting the Governor’s rule or calling the army to Balochistan a political decision: army

RAWALPINDI:
Director General of Inter Services Public Relations (DG-ISPR) Asim Saleem Bajwa said that the Pakistan army supports timely, free, fair and transparent elections in the country, Express News reported.

According to Bajwa, the imposition of Governor’s rule was a political decision, made by the government. In the same manner, lifting the Governor’s rule or not calling the army to Balochistan will also be a political decision.

He said that the army will not get any benefit from delays in the general elections.


The DG-ISPR said that the the army had no hesitation in going to Balochistan to restore peace.

Speaking more about the crisis, Bajwa informed that a target operation administered by the Frontier Corps was ongoing in Balochistan.

The police and intelligence agencies are also involved in this operation.
