ISLAMABAD:

The Koral police on Wednesday arrested the three alleged killers involved in murder of a man.

Investigation Officer Assistant Sub-Inspector Arshad said that a police team raided a house in Rawalpindi and arrested Sajid, Tanvir and Imran after getting a tip on their whereabouts. He said they are wanted for the murder of Khalid Farooq — a resident of Amarpura, Rawalpindi — who was shot dead on Tuesday over a property dispute.

However, the officer said the principle accused, Imtiaz Khokhar alias Taji — the uncle of the Prime Minister’s Adviser on Human Rights Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar — is still at large but raids are being conducted for his arrest.

The arrested persons were nominated in the FIR by Farooq’s father Anisul Arifeen. Arifeen said the deceased had exchanged harsh words with the accused persons, which resulted in a scuffle and ended with Farooq’s murder. He told the police that alleged killers have grabbed a plot in Ghauri Town and were threatening his son and other family members with dire consequences.

Arifeen said the accused killers also manhandled his son on several occasions and threatened other family members as well. “They are members of very powerful group of land grabbers,” he said, while lamenting that no action was ever taken against them despite several complaints having been lodged with the police.
