Targeted: Pro-govt militia volunteer shot dead

TANK: A former pro-government militia volunteer and a pedestrian were killed by motorcyclists, while another pedestrian was injured in a shootout on Tank-Bannu Road on Wednesday. Muhammad Shah Bhittani and his brother Gul Muhammad Shah were standing at the Pindi Coach Stand in Tank Bazaar when two motorcyclists opened fire, killing his brother on the spot and injuring two pedestrians, said police. The motorcyclists escaped while passersby shifted the injured pedestrians, identified as Tariq Khan and Zar Janan, to DHQ hospital in DI Khan where Khan succumbed to his injuries. The official said Gul Muhammad was a former volunteer of the Turkistan Bhittani pro-government militia and later joined the Abdullah Mehsud group, a pro-government militia based in Tank and DI Khan.
