Safety: Six burn in two fires

Three students were slightly burnt when a van they were travelling on caught fire due to a petrol leak.

GUJRANWALA: Six people were burned in two incidents on Tuesday. Three labourers were injured when furnace oil barrel exploded while it was being heated.

The injured were taken to Civil Hospital. Rescuers said that the labourers at an oil furnace depot near Pindi By-bass were heating a drum, when it exploded.

The injured were identified as: Imran, Rizwan and Amanullah. Doctors treating them said that their arms, chests and legs were burnt. They said they would likely survive.

Also on Tuesday, three students were slightly burnt when a van they were travelling on caught fire in Satellite Town due to a petrol leak. They were given first aid by a Rescue 1122 team after they jumped out of the burning vehicle. Rescue officials said that the fire started when the driver lit a cigarette.
