Targeted attack: Police constable gunned down in Charsadda

A search operation was launched in the area, but no arrests have yet been made.

A police constable was gunned down by unidentified militants at Kula Dher check post late Tuesday night.


Azmat Khan was on duty when he was shot and critically injured, said city police official Rukhan Zeb. Police officials rushed to the spot and shifted Azmat to District Headquarters Hospital where he later died. The assailants managed to escape and took Azmat’s gun with them.

Following an autopsy, the body was taken to the deceased’s hometown in Umerzai for burial.

A search operation was launched in the area, but no arrests have yet been made. Azmat had recently been appointed at the city police station.

In another incident, a CD shop owned by Ahmed was blown up in Bakshi Pul area on the outskirts of the city on Monday.

The blast occurred inside the Mughal market in the limits of the Khazana police station. The shop was destroyed while three people, including Naeem, Hamid and Muntazir were injured.
