Fatal accident: Five killed, 12 injured in road mishap

Police said the accident was caused by the negligence of both drivers.

Five people were killed and 12 others were injured when a truck collided with a passenger van near Kohat Tunnel on Sunday afternoon.


At around 12:30pm, a passenger van en route to Kohat from Peshawar collided with a truck on the Indus Highway, killing four people on the spot and injuring another 13, said Faizullah, an official of the Kohat Development Authority.

He said police and residents from surrounding areas rushed to the site after the accident, adding that the road remained closed for over half an hour.

“A female passenger succumbed to her injures on the way to hospital,” added Faizullah.

The dead were identified as Habibullah, Nouman, Naimatullah, Bashir Hasan and Najma Bibi.

Police said the accident was caused by the negligence of both drivers and the vehicles involved were taken into custody. An investigation is underway.
