The driver of the vehicle was transferred to Police Station Secretariat.
According to TV reports the US embassy hit their motorcycle at Margala Road injuring them both.
A crowd gathered on the scene of the accident who also foiled the attempt of the US diplomat to flee away.
The injured were carried to Polyclinic Hospital in a private car.
