LAHORE: Chief Justice (CJ) Umar Ata Bandial of the Lahore High Court on Thursday adjourned the hearing of Jamatud Dawa’s (JD) petition challenging a ban on the collection of sacrificial hides on Eidul Azha. The hearing was adjourned till March 6 so the federal government can submit its response in the matter.  Counsel for the petitioners Advocate AK Dogar said the organisation had incurred a loss of Rs100 million on Eidul Azha because of the ban. The government had not proscribed the organisation but stopped it from collecting funds for charity purposes. He said JD was operating 125 schools that provided free education.  Dogar said the ban violated the petitioner’s fundamental rights and had been imposed just ahead of Eid in a malicious move by the government. He requested the court to remove the ban.
