LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Wednesday dismissed a petition challenging a ban imposed on plying of public transport along routes of the Metro Bus Service (MBS).

Justice Nasir Saeed Sheikh passed the dismissal order after Regional Transport Authority’s secretary stated that the ban had been imposed only on the transporters plying their vehicles without proper route-permits.

A local transporter Mushtaq Ahmed had filed the petition and submitted that the ban imposed by the government was unjustified. He said the ban would increase the miseries of the people and also cause unemployment.

Ahmend had claimed that the ban was imposed only to promote MBS project which showed malafide of the government. The petitioner had urged to the court to set aside the ban.
