Fraudsters: Four ‘FIA’ officials held

Aabpara police arrested two persons accused of depriving people of valuables by pretending to be FIA officials.

ISLAMABAD: The Aabpara police arrested two persons who used to deprive people of cash and mobile phones by pretending to be Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) officials and recovered the looted money.

A police spokesperson said Mumtaz and Shahbaz deprived a man of Rs50,000 and a mobile phone, while threatening to frame fake cases against him if he refused to cooperate. He said the man complained at the Aabpara Police Station, upon which the police reached the site and arrested the duo, along with the stolen money and mobile phone. Meanwhile, the Kohsar police also arrested a man for impersonating an FIA official and recovered Rs23,000 from him. The police said Jamil alias Pada was searching for people to scam near Faisal Mosque. Acting on a tip off, the police reached the area and arrested the accused along with an unnamed accomplice.
