Ambush: Tribal elder, guard slain near Iran border

Eyewitness says the attackers fled towards Iran after the incident.

QUETTA: Unidentified men ambushed a vehicle on Friday, fatally shooting a tribal elder of Chagai district and his bodyguard and injuring three other guards.

Sardar Taj Mohammad Gamshad Zai was on his way home from Taftan Bazaar on the country’s border with Iran.

Assistant Commissioner Taftan Sayed Mureed Shah said the assailants were riding a pick-up.

Shah confirmed that three guards of Sardar Taj Mohammad were injured in the attack.

According to eyewitnesses, the attackers fled towards Iran after the incident.

Meanwhile, a bullet-riddled body was recovered from Balochistan’s restive district of Dera Bugti on Friday.
