Targeted: Elite Force ASI gunned down

SHO Fazal Hanif Khattak says he was informed that unidentified motorcyclists had shot ASI Muzzafar Khan.

KARAK:

An assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of the elite force was gunned down by unidentified assailants in Lawaghar, Karak on Thursday.

SHO Fazal Hanif Khattak said he was informed around 5:00pm that unidentified motorcyclists had shot ASI Muzzafar Khan.

Khan, a resident of Lakki Marwat, had gone to Sarki Lawaghar in Takhte Nusrati tehsil and was on his way home on a motorbike when the two suspects intercepted him near Lawaghar, added Khattak.

He said after the incident SP Investigation Aslam Khan Khattak, DSP Takhte Nusrati Usman Ghani and Karak police investigations in charge Muhammad Rahman rushed to the site.

The body was shifted to the headquarters hospital for a post-mortem and later handed over to relatives. A search operation was launched in the mountainous area, but no arrests had been made till this report was filed.

Khan’s funeral will be held today (Friday).
