Through legal channels: NBP promotes remittances from KSA

NBP says Pakistani community has overwhelmingly adopted formal remittance channels.

Press Release February 08, 2013

KARACHI: Keeping in view the importance of Saudi Arabia in remittances sent home by Pakistanis working there, the National Bank of Pakistan is aggressively conducting business development activities in the kingdom.

In this regard, NBP SEVP/Group Chief and NBP Exchange Company Chairman Khalid bin Shaheen recently held a series of meetings with senior bankers in Saudi Arabia to promote home remittances through formal channels, says a press release.

NBP has made remittance arrangements with all leading banks in the kingdom to provide fast, convenient, reliable and absolutely free of charge services to expatriate Pakistanis while creating awareness of these services through marketing campaigns.

At the same time, the bank is discouraging the use of illegal Hawala/Hundi channels.

NBP says the Pakistani community is very responsive to the efforts and has overwhelmingly adopted formal remittance channels.
