KARACHI: Wapda scored a goal in each session to lift the 32nd Junior U-21 National Hockey Championship trophy, overcoming NBP 2-0 in the final in Faisalabad yesterday.

The winners dominated their opponents for the better part of an epic battle.

They adopted an aggressive strategy and began attacking right from the beginning. Their efforts paid off when they secured the lead in the 12th minute through Asad Bashir.

NBP strived for an equaliser but their attacks were not good enough to tame Wapda, who moved into the second session with 1-0 lead.

The final session saw an exchange of attacks but it was Wapda again that struck through Mohammad Umair seven minutes before the end of the game to claim the title.

Meanwhile, SSGC won bronze after edging out PIA 3-2 in the third-fourth position match.
