Minorities and intolerance

Letter September 15, 2010
Jinnah’s argument for the Muslims of India in pre-partition India can be used for the minorities of Pakistan today.

KARACHI: This is in reference to the article “Representation of women and minorities” by Yasser Latif Hamdani (September 14).  I can’t help but wonder if a two-state solution is applicable to Pakistan today. Ironically, Jinnah’s argument for the Muslims of India in pre-partition India can be used for the minorities of Pakistan today.

Those who are part of the majority need to understand and realise that their attitude towards the minorities that live in the country needs to change, lest the situation get completely out of hand.
