Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader Ahsan Iqbal said on Wednesday that the alliance between Qadri and PTI chief Imran Khan has unearthed the forces that wish to delay the elections.

Addressing a press conference, Iqbal said that a clear line has been divided in the political set-up – those who want elections on time and those who want to delay them.

Terming Qadri’s demands ‘illogical’, Iqbal said it was not possible to reconstitute the ECP with just five weeks left for the government’s tenure to expire. ECP provincial members were selected with consensus, he added.

The party leader also said, on a sarcastic note, that he would like to appoint Imran Khan as care taker prime minister, meaning he would never win the elections.

Iqbal also lashed out at the PPP, saying that the federal government has crossed the limit of public debt as Rs53 trillion and demanded the governor of State Bank to freeze the issuing of more loans to it.
