The bomb disposal squad (BDS) defused an eight kilogramme remote-controlled bomb on Thal-Hangu Road in Doaba area of Hangu district on Wednesday.
According to BDS in-charge Asadullah, who goes by one name, his team spotted the bomb during their surveillance patrol at around 11am. They informed the Doaba police, who then cordoned off the area while the BDS officials defused the explosives.
Asadullah added the bomb weighs eight kilogrammes and would have caused a lot of damage had it not been disposed. He speculated that it was planted there to target government officials and security forces that routinely patrol the area.
