Buyer beware: Shop owner summoned for March 1

Petitioner asked to be reimbursed and paid another Rs200,000 in damages.

LAHORE: A consumer court issued a notice to the owner of AM Traders for March 1 in a suit seeking Rs275,000 damages for selling a defective air conditioner. Petitioner Muhammad Akram said he bought a window air conditioner on January 3, 2012, from the respondent’s shop in Mozan, but it stopped working after a few days. Akram said AM Traders made him pay an additional Rs10,000 for a replacement, but he was still not given a replacement unit, nor refunded. He asked to be reimbursed and paid another Rs200,000 in damages.
