LAHORE: The Young Doctors’ Association (YDA) Punjab’s hunger strike entered its third day on Wednesday in front of Services Hospital. New YDA members joined the hunger strike on Wednesday as the majority of strikers from the first day had either been shifted to hospital or were being injected fluids at the camps. YDA members also held a vigil at Jail Road to show solidarity with those who were on hunger strike. “We will not strike but we cannot force our colleagues to work in hospitals. Doctors across the Punjab are watching what the government is doing to us. At the end of the day, it will be impossible for the Health Department to run hospitals with just a few senior doctors,” said Dr Amir Bandesha, a senior member of the YDA. Separately, Punjab Paramedics Alliance held an emergency meeting at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital on Wednesday. PPA Chairman Malik Munir said the PPA deadline for its demands to be met would expire on February 10.
